Cold Staking has been put into maintenance mode temporarily, and is targeted to be reactivated from maintenance mode after v5.1 of the wallet is released, slated for mid-March, 2021.
As the developers were working on significant improvements and features for v5.1 of the wallet including improving the code flow for Cold Staking functionality and performance, a potential issue was discovered in the Cold Staking code. In order to preserve the security of the network, core development team has activated SPORK_19_COLDSTAKING_MAINTENENACE placing Cold Staking into temporary maintenance mode. It has already been addressed and fixed as a part of the major 5.1.0 upgrade, which will be a non-mandatory, but highly recommended upgrade.
5.1.0 will include, among many upgrades:
- Large sync improvements
- Chain-state corruption recovery
- Code cleanups and bug squashes
- Major performance and stability refinements
- Major GUI and wallet responsiveness enhancements.
No user PIV is at risk, no user PIV has been frozen.
Once enough network nodes have been upgraded to v5.1.0 after its release, Cold Staking functionality will resume its operation.
Everyone can freely spend Cold Staking delegations and do regular Hot Staking until Cold Staking functionality comes back online.
If you have been Cold Staking, you can either:
- Do nothing. Leave it delegated as it is. However, these PIV will not earn block rewards until Cold Staking is re-enabled on the network.
- Send the current PIV to a new address and Hot Stake.
As always, we thank you for being part of the PIVX ecosystem, and we look forward to releasing v5.1.0 in the upcoming weeks to deliver an even more improved user experience with network enhancements.
NOTE: If your node is stuck, please restart the node with -maxtipage=1000 or put maxtipage=1000 inside pivx.conf
